Celebrating the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary at Good Shepherd Chaldean Cathedral

On the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Aug. 15, His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo traveled to Good Shepherd Chaldean Cathedral in Toronto and attended Mass celebrated by His Excellency Bishop Robert Jarjis, Chaldean Bishop of Canada.

Cardinal Leo served as homilist and had an opportunity to greet the faithful after Mass. The reception that was hosted afterwards included a traditional dinner that was prepared by the young adult group.

For Chaldean Catholics, the Feast of the Assumption is typically the largest feast of the year, given their deep devotion to Mother Mary.

The Mar Addai Chaldean Eparchy of Canada has 10 parishes and missions, with a population of 40,000 served by 10 diocesan priests and two deacons.

Established in June 2011, the Eparchy is the only Chaldean diocese in Canada and includes all the country’s Chaldean Catholics.
